20TB HDDs with OptiNAND™ Technology

OptiNAND technology integrates an iNAND® Universal Flash Storage (UFS) embedded flash drive with traditional spinning media, along with advanced enhancements to firmware algorithms and system-on-a-chip (SoC) design. This is not a hybrid drive. Instead, OptiNAND enables smarter operation by offloading expanded metadata to the embedded flash, allowing more tracks per inch (TPI) and significantly increasing areal density.

The Ultrastar DC HC560 is the first drive to leverage OptiNAND’s capacity-enabling features, delivering an industry-leading 20TB capacity in a nine-disk platform (2.2TB per platter) using a CMR recording format.
